Do you use several battery-powered forklifts at your facility?

If so, you may be subject to EPCRA reporting. EPCRA stands for the Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act. The law requires businesses that use or store hazardous substances to file their inventory with their state and local emergency management offices and their local fire department.

If your facility has more than 500 pounds of sulfuric acid in batteries (an Extremely Hazardous Substance) you will need to file by March 1st of 2012. Environmental consultants such as Greystone Envolutions in East Syracuse, NY are available to help and can be reached at (315)637-6342 (they assisted us with our filing!).
